  • 1 2/3 cups  dark chocolate morsels, divided
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup  dark chocolate cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation of Jumbo Double Dark Chocolate Cookies

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper or lightly grease.

Melt 2/3 cup morsels in microwave-safe bowl on Medium-high (70%) power for 30 seconds; Stir. Morsels may retain some of their original shape. Microwave at additional 10- to 15-second intervals, stirring just until morsels are melted. Set aside.

Sift flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt into medium bowl. Beat butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add melted chocolate and mix well. Add egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well blended, about 1 minute. Add flour mixture, mixing just until blended. Stir in remaining 1 cup morsels. Drop dough by level 1/4-cup measure 3 inches apart onto prepared baking sheets.

*Bake for 16 to 18 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out with moist crumbs and the tops have a cracked appearance. Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes. Remove to wire rack to cool completely. Yield: 12 jumbo cookies

*If you want to make a smaller cookie, adjust the baking time.

  1. I’ve a similar recipe to these cookies and they are good especially if you enjoy chocolate. Is there some way to save this recipe for future reference?

  2. The prospect of the benefits of dark chocolate are encouraging. The recipe for the cookies however is counter productive to reducing inflammation. The sugar spikes your insulin level followed by an increase in cortisol resulting in inflammation. Probably eliminating any possible benefits from the dark chocolate.

  3. I have invented chocolate chip cookies: this is healthy and has no white sugar & no white flour and no chocolate chips.
    2 cups whole-wheat flour & 2 other cups of a mixture of 6 or 9 grain flour with millet & other natural organic flours + 2 tbsp. flaxseed, 1 tbsp chia seeds, some ginger, 1 -2 tsp. baking soda, 1 tbsp.soya protein powder (for the vegetarians) this gives some protein, 1 tbsp. B12 powder.3 – 4 tbsp. of STIVIA + 1/4 cup organic dark chocolate powder & 1/2 cup or more of CAROB CHIPS (to replace the chocolate chips)
    in another bowl mix approximately 1 /2 cups of skim milk or soya milk, 1 or 2 eggs & 1/2 olive oil . Mix then combine together & with a small spoon put on baking dish & bake at 350 x approx. 15-20 min.(depending to taste)
