Basic Kale Chips Ingredients
1 bunch (about 6 ounces) kale, regular or “curly”
1 tablespoon olive oil
Kosher or sea salt, to taste
Preheat oven to 300°F.
Basic Kale Chips Instructions
Rinse and dry the kale, (a spinner works great for these as you want them as dry as possible).
Remove the stems and tough center ribs. Cut into large pieces, toss with olive oil in a bowl then sprinkle with salt. Arrange leaves in a single layer on a large baking sheet or two. You can line them with parchment for easy clean-up.
Bake for 20 minutes, or until crisp. Place baking sheet on a rack to cool.
You can easily make flavored chips by using Cajun, chipotle, garlic granules, smoked paprika, or your favorite spice. Or make cheesy chips by sprinkling parmesan or nutritional yeast over the chips before baking.
Beta-carotene is a carotenoid compound responsible for giving fruits and vegetables their bright colored pigment. Kale has high levels of beta-carotene and part of a healthy Breast Cancer Diet.
